To add a logo, open the Main tab in the signature editor, scroll to Logo / Avatar and choose your image file. Your logo is shown at up to 160 × 80 pixels, so for a sharp result upload it at twice that size: 320 × 160 pixels.
How to add your logo
- Open the signature editor and stay on the Main tab.
- Scroll down to Logo / Avatar and click the file button (it says Choose File or Browse, depending on your browser).
- Select your image. It uploads straight away and appears in the preview.
- Click Create Signature (or Update Signature) to save.
To swap your logo, just choose a new file. To take it out, click Remove Logo.
What size should my logo be?
htmlsig scales your logo so it fits inside a 160 × 80 pixel box in your signature, keeping its proportions. A few examples:
- Wide logo: upload 320 × 160 pixels. It displays at 160 × 80.
- Square logo or headshot: upload 160 × 160 pixels. It displays at 80 × 80.
- Tall logo: it's limited to 80 pixels high, so it will look quite small. A wide or square version usually works better.
Uploading at double the display size keeps your logo crisp on high-resolution (retina) screens. Larger images are fine too: htmlsig shrinks them automatically, so you don't need to resize them yourself.
Supported files
- Formats: PNG, JPG or GIF (animated GIFs work).
- Maximum file size: 3MB.
If your logo has a transparent background, save it as a PNG. Some email apps add a blue outline to linked images; if you see that, read Why is there a blue box around my logo?.
Where your logo appears and links to
Where the logo sits depends on the layout you've picked on the Style tab. See How to change the layout or theme of your signature. If you've filled in the Website field, clicking your logo opens that website.
