How to Change Separators and Phone Labels in Your Signature

You can change both on the Style tab of the signature editor. Separators sets the character placed between items that share a line, and Phone Labels adds or removes the "Office:" and "Fax:" labels in front of those numbers.

How to change the separator

  1. Open the signature editor and click the Style tab.
  2. Under Separators, pick a forward slash (/), a vertical bar (|) or None.
  3. Click Create Signature (or Update Signature) to save.

The separator appears wherever two items share a line in your signature:

  • Between your name and job title
  • Between your email address and mobile number
  • Between your office and fax numbers

For example, with | selected your office and fax line reads 333-555-6666 | 333-555-7777. Choosing None leaves just a space between the items. The default is the forward slash.

How to add "Office:" and "Fax:" labels

  1. On the Style tab, find the Phone Labels menu.
  2. Choose Text to show the labels, or None to show the numbers on their own.
  3. Save your signature.

With Text selected, the line looks like this: Office: 333-555-6666 / Fax: 333-555-7777. New signatures start with None.

Phone labels only apply to the Office Phone and Fax numbers. Your Mobile Phone number is always shown without a label, next to your email address.
