How to Add Social Media Links to Your Email Signature

To add social media links, open the Social tab in the signature editor and paste the full web address of each profile or page into the matching field. An icon for that network then appears in your signature, linking straight to your profile.

How to add your social links

  1. In a separate browser tab, go to your profile or company page on the social network.
  2. Copy the address from your browser's address bar (for example https://www.linkedin.com/in/yourname).
  3. In the signature editor, click the Social tab and paste the address into the field for that network.
  4. Repeat for each network you want to include. Leave the others blank and they won't appear.
  5. Click Create Signature (or Update Signature) to save.

If you paste an address without https:// at the start, htmlsig adds it for you. Icons appear in the same order as the fields on the Social tab.

Networks that work a little differently

  • WhatsApp: use a "click to chat" link such as https://wa.me/15551234567 rather than a profile address. See What link should I use for the WhatsApp icon?.
  • Skype: enter your Skype username, not a web address. Clicking the icon starts a Skype call to that username.
  • Maps: paste a share link from Google Maps or a similar service so people can find your office.

Link tracking

htmlsig counts clicks on your social icons so you can see which networks get the most attention. See How to see who clicked your signature links. If you'd rather your icons link directly to your profiles, you can turn off link tracking.

To change how the icons look, see How to change your social media icon style and size. Can't find the network you need? Request a new social icon.
